About Kim Evoy

As a marital therapist who has been married for 29 years, I understand that marriage isn’t always smooth sailing. In fact sometimes it can be pretty stormy…you wonder if you’re really going to make it. Like any married person, I’ve certainly had my ups and downs and often have had to learn the hard way, through pain and suffering. I’m still learning and my marriage is getting better and better all the time.

Unfortunately, I have seen couples under the strain of working out the aftermath of an agonizing divorce where there is a total communication breakdown. In the majority of cases, making the tough decision to start  marital therapy, as difficult as that may be, is far better than the alternative of divorce. I am committed to stick with you when the going gets rough, until you make it through those stormy waters.

For my whole life I have had a passion for relationship counselling – to see other’s relationships restored from a place of brokenness to one of wholeness. When I see a couple not getting along, I am saddened because I know that with some determined effort in marital therapy, their lives could be so much more enjoyable.

The more I counsel people, the more energized I feel about my work, especially when I see positive results! It is a real joy and blessing for me to see couples progress from being mired in the blame game to each taking full responsibility for their contribution to the relationship. A real transformation takes place and you can literally see hope and a sense of relief in their faces as partners explore and discover new styles of relating. Relationship counselling is challenging work, yes, but it is just something I really love to do and I believe my enthusiasm comes through in all my work.

I received my Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick and graduated as the top ranking student in my class with a grade point average of 4.0. I am up-to-date on all the latest research pertaining to marital therapy and relationship counselling. I grew up in Alberta but have lived in the beautiful Fraser Valley of British Columbia for the past 30 years. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I am a proud member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and adhere to their Code of Ethical Conduct and Standards of Clinical Practice.
